Requirements and admission criteria of the doctoral programme
Candidates who wish to be admitted to the Doctoral Degree in Education must submit a series of documents (listed below). Each document will be assessed and given a score on a scale of 0 to 10 and will have a specific weight (percentage) in the calculation of the candidate's admission score. In general, applications with a score of less than 5 out of 10 will not be successful. The documents that the candidate must submit are:
- A research proposal relating to one of the research lines of the doctoral programme. The proposal must briefly outline the research objectives and the potential area of work. (25% of the admission score)
- A letter of support from a researcher on the Doctoral Degree in Education, who may also act as a potential thesis supervisor, and a research proposal. (10% of the admission score)
The two previous documents are mandatory and applications will be dismissed if they are not submitted. An application will also be dismissed if the score for the research proposal is less than 5 out of 10.
- Letter of motivation. Presentation of this document is obligatory for candidates with official master's degrees or equivalent qualifications that are not related to any of the academic areas linked to this programme (i.e. master's degrees in areas other than education, teacher training, specific teaching or educational psychology). Applicants in this situation must obtain a minimum score of 7 out of 10 for their letters of motivation in order to be admitted. (15% of the admission score)
- Curriculum Vitae (40% of the admission score), which must include the following information:
- Academic transcript of the candidate's undergraduate degree and its relevance to the candidate's profile.
- Academic transcript of the candidate's master's degree and its relevance to the candidate's profile.
- Research grants, seed funding and awards received.
- Previous professional experience in educational settings. - Foreign language proficiency (10% of the admission score). Spanish and Catalan speaking students must present a certificate demonstrating a level of proficiency equivalent to B1 (CEFR) in a foreign language used in scientific contexts (English or French). Students who are not native speakers of Spanish or Catalan must prevent a certificate demonstrating a level of proficiency equivalent to B2 (CEFR) in one of these languages.
