Access and Registration - Access degree

Depending on the origin of the institution issuing the entrance qualification for the doctoral programme, applicants need to submit the following documents:

URV entrance qualification

The Doctoral School retrieves the academic documentation from the internal records of the University. Proof of academic achievement will only be requested if you have insufficient credits to enter the doctorate level.

However, applicants must submit the documents required by the doctoral programme, which are listed in the profile of the programme.

Entrance qualification from a Spanish university other than the URV

  • The official degree certificate (diploma) and academic record or the European Diploma Supplement* of the bachelor's degree, pre-EHEA degree or pre-EHEA diploma. The academic record must include the academic years/semesters, the subjects studied, grades and number of hours/credits for each of them It must also contain information aout the grading system applied as well as the Grade Point Average (GPA).
  • A degree qualification of one of the following types:
    • A final or provisional university master's degree certificate (non-official postgraduate degrees are not valid) and the official academic record or the European Diploma Supplement*.

    • The academic records or the European Diploma Supplement* of one or more official master's degrees to prove that you have completed at least 60 ECTS credits of a university master's degree (non-official postgraduate degrees are not valid).

    • Advanced Studies Diploma or proof of having attained research proficiency. (Spanish degree). 

    • Proof of passing the training period in the case of qualifications in the field of health sciences.

    • A bachelor's degree of at least 300 ECTS credits (for example: Medicine, Veterinary, Odontology, Pharmacy or Architecture).

    • A Spanish doctoral degree certificate obtained according to previous university regulations.

    • A certificate of equivalence to the Spanish Qualification Framework for Higher Education, level 3, obtained through the electronic office of the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport.

In principle, you do not need to provide the certificates (diplomas) because we will verify them through the qualifications register of the corresponding Ministry. If we cannot verify them, you will be asked to provide the receipts conforming that you have paid the fees for the issuance of the certificates.

However, the Advanced Studies Diplomas will have to be submitted, because they were not registered at the National Register. 

Once admitted academically, you will have to present  certified copies of the above-listed documents (except the academic records or European Diploma Supplements) and the passport or NIE. In the case of the Spanish identity card, the certified copy will not be required.

In addition, applicants must submit the documents required by the doctoral programme, which are listed in the profile of the programme.

*The Europan Diploma Supplement (EDS) is a document issued by Higher education institutions within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) that provides information about the grading system used for your university qualification and the access that your qualification provides to further studies. If your diploma includes an EDS, you can submit it because it fulfills the requirements of an academic record. Check which countries belong to the European Higher Education Area.

Entrance qualification from a foreign university (EHEA)

  • The degree certificate (diploma) of the entrance qualification for the doctoral degree (official master's degree level), front and back side (even if blank).

  • Academic record or the European Diploma Supplement* of the entrance qualification for the doctoral degree (official master's degree level). It must include the academic years/semesters, the subjects studied, grades and number of hours/credits for each of them It must also contain information about the grading system applied as well as the Grade Point Average (GPA).

  • The degree certificate (diploma) of the bachelor's degree or equivalent, front and back side (even if blank).

  • Academic record or the European Diploma Supplement* of the bachelor's degree or equivalent. It must include the academic years/semesters, the subjects studied, grades and number of hours/credits for each of them It must also contain information about the grading system applied as well as the Grade Point Average (GPA).

In this case the documentation must meet the Requirements for foreign documents.

Once admitted academically, you will have to present certified copies of the above-listed documents (except the academic records or European Diploma Supplements) and the passport or NIE. In the case of the Spanish identity card, the certified copy will not be required.

If you have applied for homologation of your degree by the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, this gives official validity in Spain for higher education qualifications obtained abroad. A homologated foreign degree has the same effects as the Spanish qualification or the academic level to which it is homologated. Therefore, if you have homologated your qualification, you must follow the same process as applicants from Spanish universities but also attach proof of homologation of the qualification.

In addition, applicants must submit the documents required by the doctoral programme, which are listed in the profile of the programme  .
