Agreements

The Doctoral School is to ensure and safeguard the quality of its doctoral programmes. Vital to the success of this mission are inter-institutional alliances and cooperation with universities and other key players both within the region and around the world.

The type of doctoral studies agreement that is established depends on the aim of the course and the nature of the collaborating institution.

• Types of agreement

• International cotutelle of doctoral thesis
  The URV may formalize agreements with foreign universities for the completion of doctoral theses under co-supervision. In this case, the doctoral student must enroll at both universities, carry out a research stay at the foreign university and prepare the doctoral thesis under the responsibility of a thesis director at each of the two centers that sign the agreement. Upon completion of the process of defending a doctoral thesis under co-supervision, the doctoral student may have two doctorates, one from each institution, in accordance with the conditions stipulated in the agreement signed between the two universities.

• Interuniversity doctorate
  Agreement between the URV and one or more universities to establish an interuniversity doctoral program that allows the student to obtain a single degree at all participating universities.

• Framework agreement for collaboration with foreign universities
  Framework agreement that establishes the will to promote actions in any of the areas related to doctoral training where opportunities for mutual cooperation are detected. These agreements may be accompanied by a specific annex for each doctoral student.

• Industrial doctorates
  Agreement between the URV and a company, which hires the doctoral student who will develop the thesis research in the company's strategic project.

• Specific agreements for national and international research stays
  Agreements with institutions so that the doctoral student can go there to carry out research activities necessary for the doctoral thesis.
